Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

Missing the Fluff and Furr

Last night was the soundest amount of sleep that I got since I left Tucson. When the phone rang early this AM, I thought for a few seconds that I was in my own bed. When I wasn't able to feel a warm furry body within kicking or reaching range, it hit me that there are no warm furry bodies (my parents dog never sleeps in my bedroom).

So, I launched iPhoto to look at them.
My sweet little Adira (aka: Fluff). She likes to knead on the top blanket on my bed when I go to bed.

Magnum (aka: Furr). He likes to capsize and show off that fat striped belly. I have to remember to tell my cat sitters that the belly is NOT an invitation to rub it (unless you can get along without a hand).

Fountain Hills relaxing

Okay, I went out to see "Syriana" late this morning. It is a movie that makes you think a lot, but I'm still not sure if I would buy a copy when it hits DVD. I might have to see it again.

Then as the movie was ending, my sister called to ask if it was okay to leave my nephew with me while she went to physical therapy. Between my Dad and I, we managed the three plus hours she was gone. I'm definately not up to the full time job of being the mother of a toddler. But it warms my heart to know that he recognizes me. But he likes electronics a bit too much to risk bringing out the laptop for a quick blog with him running around.

Today is my Mom's birthday. We're going to dinner tonight in about 30 minutes. At least they have a decent steak house in town these days, so we can get there in less than 10 minutes.

I have a good excuse

Greetings from Fountain Hills. Yes my Mom's wireless is up and running.

Wow, it's been that long since I posted.

I am always busy trying to get out of town trying to do last minute stuff. Then I still had to work the AM of the 22nd. My best friend in Tucson was late getting to work to exchange gifts. Then it took me forever to find a place to make extra housekey for the cat sitting neighbor. So when I had been hoping to arrive to my matchmaker friend's house at 2:00 - 3:00 PM, it was really 4:30 PM.

Then she went into labor on the 23rd. Three and half hours later, their son was born. That's right, she claimed she didn't feel real contractions until her water broke, and then three and half hours later, her first child was born. He's little, squirmy, and with a small chin. But they think he's adorable and the cutest baby they've ever seen (naturally).

So boyfriend and I had to do the house stuff like cooking dinner, laundry, and cleaning. Had help from one set of new grandparents (the others showed up on Christmas Day).

The new parents came home Christmas Day. The hospital would keep the baby in the nursery until it was feeding time, so the night of the 25th was a long night for everyone in the house because they didn't know what to do about the crying baby.

Much to my surprise, the grandmothers aren't tossing out suggestions on what to do about it. Probably a good thing since a house with two grandmothers in at the same time can start a turf war. But it meant the rest of us were waking up every few hours too.

I drove down to Fountain Hills late yesterday afternoon to be greeted with lots of presents. I even got presents from the new grandparents, which is way cool.

Basically this holiday has been stretched out over many days. Since the 23rd when the baby was born to last night. No wonder I'm so fricking tired.

My Mom had to go to meeting. So I am left wondering what to do. I think I'll go to a movie in a little bit, then take a nap. Stayed up late last night being a sympathetic ear to my sister, and was woken up at 6:15 AM to the phone ringing (separate post).
