Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

I'll pretend to be look surprised

*ugh* Just finished yet another human subjects training certification. Have to do it every two years now *grrr*

Not that I learned anything new.

This didn't surprise me either. I know that Phoenix drivers suck. Between the motorcyclists that weave between cars zooming well over the speed limit (illegal and stupid), the old people confused as to where they are, the parking lot freeways increasing tempers, and the now intense summer heat making waits seem five times longer than in the winter, it's not too surprising.

See why I'm not in any big hurry to move up there?

these boots were made for walking

I haven't owned a pair of cowboy boots in many years. As I finished my tenure as a college student, my wardrobe needs grew past the jeans and t-shirt that I had been wearing.

So in my shopping excursions this last week, I saw a pair of brown boots. They're not typical cowboy boots since they bunch up the leather a bit as the boot goes up your leg. Still they fit under my work pants pretty well. And at their clearance price, I couldn't refuse this pair of brown closed toed shoes.

Too bad the leather bunching isn't the only thing that makes these "girlie" boots. There's a heel on these that I somehow missed when I bought them.

Cowboy boots have a bit of heel on them. But this goes beyond the heel to balance the foot, and it tapers slightly to be more narrow on the floor than where it's mounted on the sole.

I'm not a heel person. I'm freaking 5'11" - I don't need it! The last time I wore anything with a heel was a sandal with a slight heel on it to a black tie formal event. I almost crashed into this semi-cute resident; but I will not date doctors, so fortunately I was able to recover before crash landing into anyone.

With this boot heel, I feel like I'm 7 feet tall. I have to re-adjust reaching for everything like door handles and faucets. I'm finally starting to look less akward walking.

I just hope they break in well. My feet will probably be sore when I get home tonight, but that's normal.
