Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

Memorial Day

This year, Memorial Day seems to have a lot of meaning to it.

Based on what I saw on Easter weekend, I'm sure outdoor recreation places like the dunes will be packed. For some, it's a time for leisure and doing activities they enjoy. For Hollywood, it's movie blockbuster weekend (think X-Men 3).

I know some that are overseas (one just got back). My Dad was Air Force in the 1960's, but was never sent to Vietnam.

So I can say a silent thanks for those that gave their all. But I do that anytime I read the latest casulty reports.

Again, for those that gave everything, and to those that they left behind, I respect your sacrifice. I will live the "American dream" and appreciate the freedom I have in being able to do so.

over?

I think it was a stomach bug of some sort.

It finally dawned on my yesterday when I was feeling crappy and having symptoms similar to my celiac, that I had chills. Sure enough, I had a little fever going on.

Fever broke late yesterday afternoon, and didn't come back.

Ate some of the same foods that I had been eating when I was having symptoms. This time, no symptoms.

Just in time for a road trip to San Diego. I stocked up on gluten-free pretzels, breakfast bars, and L"a"ra Bars. Wish you could find some of this stuff at gas stations so I didn't have to bring the arsenal with me before I hit the road. But at least I won't go hungry either.

Boyfriend gets Memorial Day Monday off too (wasn't sure for the longest time). So it'll be nice to spend a couple days with him. Maybe we'll go to the beach or something.
