Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

Just plain stupid

I thought I knew that I was getting myself into wasting two hours by watching "Fatal Contact: Bird Flu in America" last night. There wasn't anything else on at 7:00 PM, and boyfriend wasn't feeling good, so I was kinda stuck. I read critics reviews that basically panned the movie as nothing more than an attempt to get ratings.

It's your basic plotline - bad things happen, then people begin to rebuild and learn important life lessons about humanity. But they eneded it with an emergence of a new strain that was 100% fatal, ending with a shot of migratory birds flying over a village that had killed everyone. I guess it was supposed to scare people.

It seemed to work. I can't believe that people called asking if they had contracted bird flu. It was a stupid movie! Have you seen neighborhoods under quaratine yet? Have you seen governors barricading themselves into sterile buildings to save themselves? No, it's an interpertation of the worst possible scenario.

So let's nitpick here a bit. First of all, FEMA being able to coordinate supplies to affected cities seems very laughable after what happened in New Orleans. And the latest government report said that you can't expect the government to help you.

I'll give the writers credit in that China seems most likely to be a source for B2H/H2H infection. They have trouble reporting on current bird flu patients right now, and if it becomes H2H, they most likely will try and prevent that knowledge from getting out until it is too late.

But there was a scene where the nurse lady was tending to a sick woman. She's wearing face mask (which will NOT filter against something as small as a virus) and boyfriend peeks in by opening the plastic curtain without anything. True they wrote in that he got sick before coming to her and recovered. But with as much talk of mutations running around as they did, that was so incredibly STUPID
