Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

what else would I do in FH

Oh yeah, what am I doing in Fountain Hills on a weekday night?

Tomorrow is my birthday. Yes, the big 3-0. I've made my peace with that a few months ago. But boyfriend suggested that I do something for myself that I haven't done before.

So my sister, Mom, and I will be spending half a day at a spa. Don't know quite what all is planned, but there's a hot rock massage in the plans for sure. I figured I should be surprised.

I made a gluten-free cake tonight. Hopefully it's pretty tasty. We'll try it in a bit, and finish off the leftovers when we're done at the spa.

So......happy birthday to me!

"bible thumpers"

Just another FH blog entry.

I like being able to discuss politics with my Dad. I brought up the news today that McCain is starting to make peace with the evangelical groups.

His comment: "What's an evangelist?"

"I don't quite know for sure. Evangelists claim credit for electing W. in 2004."

So that inspired me to look up the term evangelical.

It's one of those funny words it seems. And its meaning depends on the country you're in. If you're in Germany, evangelical means you're a Protestant. But in this country, it refers more to a concept than a religion. You could be any one of the Christian religions and also evangelical.

From what I've read, evangelicals believe the word of the Bible is true, sacred, and thus fact. The root of the word is Greek (which predates Christianity) as "gospel" or "good news".

Then it gets attached to a Christianity faith that believes in the bible.

And that's where I guess I'll leave it. They had a strong system of organizing ("let's meet after church"). Can't say what they think of McCain. I understand why he's sucking up to them, but I still don't like it.
