Okay, so called Cingular again. On hold for another 25 minutes. Managed to get the same girl I talked to yesterday. She seemed surprised that the Treo 650 had the software for the Reader program. And I told her that even that version crashed the phone. It seems the longer it sits neglected, the chances of it crashing increases.
She asked if I bought it at an authorized store. I did. She said that their default policy is a 2 week "buyer's remorse" policy. I said that wasn't what I was told, but I had 30 days.
She said that if I exchanged with her, it'd be a used phone. I said that the store told me to exchange it with you. She asked if I could get the phone number of the store, and she'd call the store to arrange an exchange. Of course, that store isn't listed in the online phonebook.
She starts looking, and asked if I bought it on Tanque Verde (but hearing her pronouce it, I barely recognized it). She said she'd get back to me after she called the store.
A minute later, phone rings. I then look at the clock, and realized that the store might not be open at 8:00. Sure enough, she was telling me that the store didn't open until 9, and in her time zone she didn't think twice.
So looks like I'll be having to exchange the phone. I hope they don't want all the components and the box it came in. Magnum's been using the box as his fiber source, and I don't want to go home first to get the charger (and what's left of the box).
