Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

this building sucks

The worst of it is that if somebody decided to burn down the building, it is now so damp in here from all the leaks, it won't catch fire.

That is, unless someone can get a hold of something like napalm or greek fire. That should burn in a wet environment.

Now, I know greek fire is lost to history. How about napalm - anyone holding onto government surplus that'd be willing to part with?

Oh, and we'll save some for the facilities building too. Those jerks still haven't even bothered to call me back to say that they're going to bring tarps over. Sitting here listening to the sound of drips would make anyone insane.

for my next trick

I'm so pissed and frustrated right now.

The sample from the clinic collected last night wasn't working out for some reason. Decide to throw in the towel, and started bringing crap in from the culture lab to the main lab.

Our building is notorious for having roof leaks. It's only a 15 year old building. As I go to grap the laptop, I hear a familar "drip......drip". Look up, and there's a new leak developing above the desk next to mine. Go to pull out the ceiling tile (already starting to look like it might buckle), and put a bucket under it to collect the drips.

Figure it's probably a good idea at this point to check for any more leaks. Find two more: above a computer, and above the box that controls the laser output for the sorter.

Just farking lovely.

Rip up every plastic bag I have to make temporary dropcovers, and about a dozen biohazard bags too. At this point, I'm covering everything of value since it seems to be random cowpie lottery where the next one will show up.

Walk past a leak from last year they supposedly fixed and get a drop of dirty water in the face.

And I'm still waiting for the dropclothes.

Is this anyway to run a research facility?????

weekend?

I hate having to work on Saturdays. It's made even worse from the rain that's been going on since 5:00 AM. No sun for us today. Just clouds and light rain.

Glad I don't have to cross any washes to get home today. They're already predicting bank to bank flooding of all the washes. CDO has been closed at Overton since Thursday. Sabino Canyon dam has been peaking at hundreds of cubic feet per second at the dam.

Damnitt Jim, the desert can't handle four days of rain!
