Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

Overheard story 1

The strangest things I now hear since I'm a part of the everyday workings of this family.

During a conversation tangent, the name of this one guy came up.

"Oh, I remember meeting him once in the Monterey house. He had some kinda far out ideas," my dad said.

"He was my godfather," my aunt supplied. "He was an inventor of sorts and had lots patents. The most famous is the popcorn maker used by movie theatres."

And then I got more of the story of this guy, and how he was a friend of the family. A bit stubborn, he was jailed after refusing to pay tickets for blowing the snow from a grocery store driveway back into their driveway after their plows would shove the snow onto his driveway. Rumored to have stayed in jail until the snow melted or they got tired of him (despite several offers to pay the tickets and fines from his employer).

Supposedly had lots of ideas on cheap renewable energy. Not sure what became of them. After several strokes, he passed away last summer in his 90s.

My aunt then was telling stories about the trips they made from Chicago to Wisconsin. Which brought up the story of how my grandmother got pulled over for speeding so badly she had to go the police station with her children in tow. But that's for another story.....

Level of Realism

*ugh* I am still sick. The Mucinex and Claritin the pharamacy guy at Target recommended are not helping that much. So far, at least the coughing is better. But I got an earful from my mother about how I should see a doctor, and my former employer sucks because they let my insurance lapse before offering it to me.

So I'm going to try and take his advice today and take it easy. But in going through my emails, I got a comment from one of the posters on Celiac Food Reviews. Great website, and I like the "Level of Realism" since they have a celiac and non-celiac to compare it to the real thing. I'll add it to my blogroll
