Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

the pitter patter of little feet

I'm not sure if it's the initiation of the "newbie", but I was told this horror story of how last summer they found rats in the roof just above our heads. Just another joy of working on the top floor.

Last week, I heard something on the ceiling late in the day around 5:30. But I was able to recognize the pattern as human footsteps. There's a slow deliberate pace of the human step (not to mention the groan of the roof from the weight). So I figured it was a maintainance issue.

Today I'm hearing a rapid pace of scritches on the ceiling above me. I don't think it's human. I'll guess I'll ask if the traps are still up there.

black and blue Monday

This weekend sucked. I worked all weekend setting up merchandise at the new hardware store. Saturday was my more productive looking day, but Sunday was rearranging things to shoehorn in the bits of things that I couldn't fit in Saturday. But I got up about 60 square feet of merchandise.

Sunday I was so tired I was almost falling off the ladders all day. Which led to several crashes into the fixture walls. I got home and fell asleep for an hour before the Mother's Day dinner show. Two strong drinks later, I fell back asleep on the couch.

So I'm sore, black, and blue (and red if you count the scratches). At least I sit on my butt most of the day because I can walk (slowly). I didn't even consider taking the stairs this morning.

How was your weekend?
