Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

bacon bringer

The funding finally came through for my job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a call this morning, but had to let it go to voicemail because I was dealing with replacing the windshield. When I finally retrieved it, it was "money came through, and you can start whenever you want".

I really can't start when I want because I'd take Thursday. My new boss will not be in Thursday or Friday, so he'd perfer it if I start Monday morning.

So Monday it is.

so happy - it's about time I start bringing home the bacon.

funeral; no trip

Stupid airlines.

Nobody's offering bereavement rates for family emergencies anymore. It's their everyday rates - sorry.

Anyway, it'd be $620/person to fly out for the funeral (which is Friday). You can't book online with less than 48 hours notice. So we'll just contribue money to his cause.

I'm still dealing with the sudden loss of my uncle/godfather. It's hard when I know how long others have gone on dialysis, and he lasted less than a week.

Yesterday I followed up with the job that I was supposed to start last week (until they said the funds haven't been sent over). Got a "you're not on the list yet, and the next list comes out in two weeks".

So I'm thinking this job is never going to happen. I ponder doing a "pro/con" list to see if all the hassle has been worth it. My two biggest pros were the great guy I'll be working for, and the high wage with overtime allowed.

Then I get a surprise call this morning. "They added your name to the list late yesterday, so you can start whenever you want to."

Called hardware store. Tomorrow's going to be my last day.

I was originally told that I could start the new job Thursday. But the guy I'm going to work for said he won't be at work the rest of the week, and would perfer I start Monday morning.

It's for the best anyway. I need to make arrangements to go a funeral in Chicago this weekend. My uncle/godfather suddenly passed away yesterday. The hospital is doing post mortem to figure out what happened, so the funeral isn't going to be until the weekend.
