Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

A day on the lake....

Yesterday was supposed to be a nice relaxing day on my cousin's boat which is docked in Lake Michigan. Here's what really happened...

Trying to get three small children ready to go takes forever, so I think we were late leaving New Lenox to start with. Finally got to the boat, pulled out of the slip and left the marina. Didn't get too far before my cousin realized there was something wrong with the boat (underpowered engine). Anchored at a beach area to attempt to fix (without the proper tool). While my cousin is fixing the boat back at the marina, I scrounge somthing I can eat. By the time I get back, he thinks it's ready to go.

Second trip out the marina, same thing happens again (same underpowered engine). This time I'm looking back at the marina, and see dark clouds building. So we decide to go back to the marina to try and fix the boat. We get close to the marina, and it begins to pour. But we're doing okay until we make the turn into the marina, and causes the direction of the rain to pour inside the boat. We pull into the slip, and frantically try and get the cover on the boat and wait out the storm.

The inside of the boat was nice, but very cramped with seven bodies in it. That was the one time I almost snapped at one of the kids. But at least when you're in the slip, you have access to electricity (and air conditioning). So that's how we waited out the storms.

When we finally made it back to New Lenox, I discovered that I sunburned my upper arms, back, and shoulders. The sun wasn't out THAT long. Ah well, that's why I packed aftersun lotion.

Someone's on their way to pick us up and take us to old downtown Frankort. It's cute - I haven't been in almost four years. My sister, nephew, and I are already exhausted. Hopefully that'll get better soon....
