Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

truce?

Magnum really seems to enjoy picking an unprovoked fight with Adira. I really feel bad for her most of the time because she's trying to get away from the orange menance. But sometimes she doesn't shut up, and I wish Magnum would just shut her up.

But it was finally nice enough when I finally got home from work today to let the kitties on the porch. And there was much happiness all around.

What surprised me the most was that afterwards Adira jumped on my lap for snuggles and a cat nap. This is a routine that is normally reserved for when I go to the bedroom. Thus, Magnum gets all the living room lap time and snuggles.

Magnum still got lap time and snuggles. He was content to wait until Adira left. Then he'd leave after I started to laugh with "The Daily Show".

Now Magnum's sleeping on his towel that I leave on a side table for him. Adira's got the coveted spot on the craft shelves. And there was peace in the house for a night.

And there was much happiness with the human.

Medtronic finally came through

So Monday came, and I still didn't have a FedEx delivery for me. So I called the rep. She had to flee from the office shortly after talking to me due to a family emergency. She said it just went in the FedEx pickup.

Sure enough, just before 10:00 this morning, FedEx guy showed up.

Didn't do a lick of good because there was no battery. After a quick stop at Target, that issue was fixed.

So I will do what I can NOT to lose this one. I'm sure I'm on their shit list for a while because of this.

Thanks Medtronic, you guys rule!

More revenge of the stupid

I can't believe that they need to make a law for this. Courtsey of the Arizona Republic:

Bill would allow insurance hit for keys left in car
Associated Press

The Arizona Senate wants to provide a financial incentive for motorists to think twice before leaving keys in an unattended vehicle.

The Senate on Tuesday approved, 16-13, a bill (SB1059) sponsored by Republican Sen. Linda Gray of Glendale to allow automobile insurance companies to charge a triple deductible for claims for automobiles stolen when the keys were left inside.

One out of five vehicles stolen in Arizona had keys left in them, Gray said.

Um, I run to the mailbox and I lock my car. I see a couple neighbors start their cars and run back inside until their car heater kicks in. I won't have any sympathy for them if someone decides to run off with their car. I think that they should just fork over more money for their insurance when they have to renew their policy.

Speaking of insurance, mine is supposed to go down a bit again. I renew every six months, and finally the last time around was when my accident cleared the three year. So my monthly payments should go down even more...we'll see.

"Get me off this rock!"

I'm glad I'm not one of those types of people that has to plan things in advance.

Last week the plan was that boyfriend and I would meet in Prescott, he'd get his tax receipts turned in. We'd stay with matchmakers, and then have a nice time.

Then he said "I thought the 17th was a Thursday." He'd forgotten to mention that the 17th was the planned date of him leaving Hawaii....opps. But he was still thinking he'd arrive in Prescott Friday and stay Monday to see the tax guy.

Then the matchmakers decide they'll be out of town that weekend. So the NEXT weekend will be Prescott. Which I like better since that's the weekend before my birthday. But he asked if I'd come out to see him on the 17th. I said that I offered initially, so the offer was still on the table - yes I'll come see him in San Diego.

I then asked "so when are you going to arrive in SD?"

"Don't know yet. Company is still working on getting me a ticket. But the crews that have rotated in and out generally arrive in SD around 8:00 or 9:00 PM."

Which is fine with me because I have a work committment that I can get out of the way before I hit the road to SD.

Last night he called me. "They're still working on the plane ticket. But I might not be able to get out on Friday after all. If that's true, then I'll come out to your place Monday after I stop by the office. We'll spend that week together and then I'll head up to Prescott Friday, and you can join me when you get done with work."

Sounds like a waste of gas, but for the two of us to drive together takes him out of his way to bring me back before he heads back to San Diego. Besides, I still have a work committment on the 24th, and would rather him get an early start to Prescott to take care of his taxes.

Personally, I'm silently rooting for the "can't get a plane ticket on Friday, he'll drive out to see me for the week before the 24th". I can take half days here and there, so that'll be really nice.

The last minute nature of this doesn't bother me at all. Either way, my work will still get done, and I'll get to see boyfriend again. That's a plus anyway I look at it.
