Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

overheard

"Hey Jenn," one of the mangers called me back to the contractors desk.

"What's up?"

"Did you see a black hoe back here Friday?"

The backstory was that it was something for a will call. I don't remember it being there, and we're short one in the inventory. Don't know if it ever turned up or just written off.

But after I denied knowledge of said garden tool, I couldn't think of the irony of the question in the wake of the Imus incident.

time to go

I just got my biggest reason yesterday why I need to leave the hardware store sooner than later:

I was sitting back at the contractors desk, going through the next upcoming sale with the inventory manger and "guy to replace me". So I was giving my ideas on the non-stock sale items and endcap setups when a couple college students came up. I smiled and asked if I could help them.

"Are you a manager?"

"Err, no," I turn my head and motioned to the inventory manger "But he is."

The dysfunctionality of the upper management would put me in an akward situtation. I know that if I stayed, I could be a manager. But there's "tiers" to the management, and I'd be lower management. Then officially stuck between the dysfuctional upper managment and the sales people that hate the decisions.

But I got one of the upper managers good Friday. He has this habit of poking all the girl employees. I don't get too offended by it since he's an equal opportunity poker. But on Friday, it was windy which dried the air out a lot. I began to shock everything I touched. So when pokey-manager came by to get his jab in, he got a pretty good shock himself in the process.

So when someone asked him what freaked him out, he said "I just got shocked when I touched...."

"Something that's not yours," I finished and walked away.
