Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

Phoenix protest

Even though one of the senators drafting the deportation of illegal immigrants is from Arizona, the protest crowd pales in comparison to the crowd in LA (30,000 max versus 500,000).

I heard about the Phoenix protest. I was on my way into the valley to meet my sister for lunch before heading up the 17 to Prescott. I remember hearing "Avoid the area around 24th Street at all costs." Fortunately, I didn't have to be anywhere near it, and was able to safely negotiate around it.

However, the number of people was about 10 times greater than what the organizing group had told Phoenix officials. Now the mayor is pissed off, saying they created a public nuisance and was a saftey hazard because there weren't enough police to control the crowds.

The group organizing the protest in turn demands an apology from the mayor and claiming racial discrimination.

Wonder if the LA mayor is having a similar problem....
