Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

the not so SICK update

Okay, finally more local coverage of the incident.

Arizona Daily Star is reporting that the coffin disposal may have been more innocent than orginally thought of.

As a research scientist, I still wonder how it's legal for a mortuary to dump a coffin in the landfill after it had been occupied. Isn't a used coffin considered a biohazard? Granted, I doubt there's an autoclave big enough for decontaminating a coffin, but how about a spray bottle filled with bleach?

I feel sorry for the family. Yeah, the person was apparently no longer in there, but they're still going to get a call "uhh, his used coffin turned up".

sick Sick SICK

I heard about this on the morning news. I was finally able to find a web story about it here.

It is so wrong on many levels.

Monday frustration

Okay, the good news is that a doozy of a storm did blow in about an hour after the post. I didn't take any more pain meds, and as the rain started to pour, the pain melted away. So the human barometer was successful again.

It seems that those in the lab that didn't have to go to the meeting on Friday blew off the rest of the day. But they left a mess on my desk in the short amount of time they were in.

*sigh* The celiac support listserv brought up a good question - "What's on your 4th of July Menu?"

I wish I could have beer, brauts, and pretzels. I have my gluten-free pretzels, but BevMo is out of the gluten-free beer again, and brauts without buns are not the same. I've tried a couple brands of gluten-free buns, and it has been a big let down.

Guess I should ask boyfriend what he wants to do. I'm only responsible for Saturday night dinner. I'm going to marinade split chicken breasts filled with sun dried tomatoes, then grill. Wild rice and corn on the cob with a rhubarb cobbler will finish out the belated birthday dinner for my man.
