Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

Well duh....

I'm not surprised:

Seriously, I am proud of how our minds have evolved to make the neural connections to be able to try and understand "why" or "how". Okay, it's not ture for all of us, but work with me here!

There's so much yet to understand, and I hope to always be curious.

the America we pretend doesn't exist

Catching up on my blog readings, I came across this story and I feel that it should be shared.

Her father was sent to New Orleans as an OSHA consultant to help properly dispose of questionable garbage. His account of what he saw can be found here.

I'm ashamed to be in this country today. If it's remotely true, then we have left high end government as a petty game of you're my friend/you're not my friend.

More nitpicking

Okay, I am finally getting around to reading the transcript from the President's speech in Philly. Why do they continue to let him write his own speeches??? For example:

To fill the vacuum after liberation, we established the Coalition Provisional Authority. The CPA was ably led by Ambassador Jerry Bremer, and many fine officials from our government volunteered to serve in the CPA.

First of all, the Ambassador's name is PAUL Bremer. And if you're giving him a thumbs up as much as you did good ole Brownie during Katrina, I don't feel very good about that. The CPA has had to deal with reports of millions of reconstruction dollars disappearing. Until they have more proof, it's going to stay under the radar I'm guessing.

Then there's this cute saying:

The terrorists in Iraq share the ideology of the terrorists who struck the United States on September the 11th. They share the ideology with those who blew up commuters in London and Madrid, murdered tourists in Bali and killed workers in Riyadh and slaughtered guests at a wedding in Amman, Jordan.

This is an enemy with conscience and they cannot be appeased.

I assume you mean an enemy withOUT conscience. And most of the terrorists in Iraq would be appeased if we left Iraq. I'm not saying that's the best answer, but most are rallying to the perception that we invaded their brother's country.

And here is again showing his wonderful ability to count:

Our strategy in Iraq has three elements.

On the economic side, we're helping the Iraqis restore their infrastructure, reform their economy and build the prosperity that will give all Iraqis a stake in a free and peaceful Iraq.

On the security side, coalition and Iraqi forces are on the offense against the enemy. We're working together to clear out areas controlled by the terrorists and Saddam loyalists, and leaving Iraqi forces to hold territory taken from the enemy.

And as we help Iraqis fight these enemies, we're working to build capable and effective Iraqi security forces so they can take the lead in the fight and eventually take responsibility for the safety and security of their citizens without major foreign assistance.

I would lump taking the lead in the fight and be responsible for their citizens safety and security as a security side. If he mentions a third element, I couldn't find it in the transcript.

Read the transcript, and try not to pull your hair out in the process.
