Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

birthday fun

So I survived my first trip to a day spa. LOVED the hot rock massage - that could have lasted for another hour at least. The facial was nice, but didn't notice much of a difference. The manicure was a bit rushed because of scheduling problem. But the pedicure was a nice treat.

After we were all done and pretty, we had an okay late lunch at Claim Jumper. Wasn't super impressed, but don't know if it's because of the late lunch timing or not. At least I can have their BBQ sauce, which is unusual.

Made it home in about 2.25 hours. Very good considering the southbound 101 can be a parking lot. Dinner time for me now.

Opened some nice birthday cards, and looking forward to picking up the toys Adira liberated from the toy box and snuggling with Magnum.

Raider of the lost toybox

Around January, my boyfriend compalined that I was letting my cats have the run of the house with their toys scattered throughout the house.

He said that I should get a box for them and keep the toys in there unless I want to bring one out to play.

So I swiped a small box from work and it became the toybox. I leave the catnip fur mice out because that's a popular toy for both cats.

Adira really likes the small plastic mice with fur on them. They're easy for her to bat around, and she likes to eat the tails.

There are some nights when I'll hear the sound of a bell. The next morning, I'll find one of Adira's fur mice on the floor. When I came back from Prescott this last weekend, I found 4 mice around the living room.

I've seen Adira sniff inside the toybox and reach in, but not grab a toy out. But I'm pretty sure she's my toybox raider.

When I get my camera back in a couple weeks, I will have to try and catch her in action.

good birthday karma

I didn't sleep the greatest last night. It's not my bed, and it's not my pillow.

But even that wasn't enough to start a pain epiosde. So I am starting my birthday on a good note.

The gluten-free birthday cake was yum-yum delicious. It was still slightly warm, and spongy like a cake should be. I'll have more cake today for breakfast, so we'll see how it turns after overnight.

degrees of "bad"

I just read in the Arizona Republic. Our drought condition has been increased from "severe" to "extreme". Only took 11 years to get to that level.

If it gets any worse, we can go one further level to "exceptional".

The only "good" news of this is that not the entire state is in extreme drought. Just the parts that have forests. Parts of Texas are already in exceptional (probably the areas that are burning in wildfires). You can see the drought monitor here.
