Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

don't cry for me Argentina (maybe not)

But even with this setback on the new job front, I'm not totally ready to get sloshed.

I got a call Wednesday from a 928 area code. That's northern Arizona area. I thought it was a strange number relating to my friend up in Prescott Valley.

Nope. Go a little farther north.

Grand Canyon? Too far north.

Flagstaff? Bingo.

I had applied for this lab job at Northern Arizona University when boyfriend had been accepted at the school. Never heard anything back, so I thought it was a job for a person they had in mind, hired someone, and moved on.

"We just got your application yesterday even though the position was closed in March. Are you still interested in the job?"

"My heart's going to be up there, so yes I'm interested."

I am doing a conference call interview this afternoon. Since Tuesday is my day off from the hardware store, I am reserving the right to drive up there on Tuesday if it looks promising.

Got a confirmation email about the interview. I figured I should look into what he's researching. I have so many ways to offer my knowledge (mouse systems, immunology), and he could teach me more about parasitology. So in other words, I'd be excited to work for this guy.

I should make a sacrifice to the job gods to land this one. The location (Flagstaff) would be nice. Boyfriend would be there for three years so we could work on our relationship. It'd be back in academia (which is my type-cast) and would have job security.
