Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

how did I luck out?

Friday (the day after my birthday) was not a good day.

Thursday, my sister was in the hospital. She thought she had kidney stones, but had spent most of the night in pain and throwing up. So she went to the ER and was admitted. They started to think it was her gallbladder. By Thursday night, we learned that her gallbladder was infected and surgery was scheduled for Friday.

My mom was on her way to see my sister Friday morning. She tripped on a curb going into the hospital, and fell on her face. So instead of going to see my sister, she was in the ER getting a head CT, knee x-rays, and stitches on her nose. Nothing broken except the nose. So three stitches and lots of pain medicine, she got to go home.

But my dad also had to go into the cancer center wing for a last infusion of fluids and potassium to recover from the stomach flu that we all had.

So by 11:30 Friday, I learned that my mom, dad, and sister were all in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital North.

At that point, I asked to stay away from the key machine, glass cutter, and anything possibly causing bodily harm. (Which in retrospect, could be anything in that building.) I was partly kidding, but I really wondered if I was next to have something horrible happen.

The worst thing that happened - spilled coffee on my shirt.
