Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

Fiesta Bowl blogging

The next best thing to being at the new Cardinals stadium tonight to watch the Tostito's Fesital Bowl is watching it at home.

I silently root for Oklahoma for the Stoops factor. My dad is rooting for Boise State just for the underdog factor. And I do like underdogs more often than not.

Halftime comes, and we're surprised at how Boise State managed to get their third touchdown in the last few seconds. They're up 21-10 at the half. We know that with OU having more time of possession, it's only a matter of time before the defense of Boise State starts to fall apart.

I settle in my room with the game on and start catching up on emails, blogging, and job searching.

Sure enough, OU starts to get in the game. Suddenly they score a touchdown and OU is only down by 2. Go for two? You betchya.

First attempt: OU misses. Boise State gets nailed for pass interference. Spot the ball on the 1 yard line and try again.

Second attempt: OU hits the receiver in the end zone. But they get nailed for illegal shift. Spot the ball on the 6 yard line and try again.

Third attempt: OU hits the receiver in the end zone. No flag. Tie game.

Boise State in less than two minutes just needs to run the clock down and go for OT. Major interception and OU runs into the end zone. OU up by 7 and about a minute and change left. Dad and I figure that OU squeaked out a victory.

Boise State answers with a lateral and runs a touchdown with about 15 seconds left in the game. Tied game (again).

OT round 1. OU makes it easy to throw the ball into the end zone for a touchdown. Boise State runs the 25 yards. Gets to a 4th and 2 at the 7 yard line. Toss the ball (finally) into the end zone. Go for two or go for round 2?

Holy crap. Boise State went for 2 - successfully. Boise State beat OU by 1 in OT.
