Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

for the Christmas ham

Okay, I came across this recipe for ham glaze in the Smart and Final holiday sale book. I tried it on our Thanksgiving ham, and got nothing but rave reviews. So here it is in all its glory.

1 cup apricot preserves
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 cup pomegranate cider
1 tsp. cornstarch

Heat preserves, sugar, ginger and cinnamon on low heat stirring occasionally until preserves melt. In a small bowl, mix together cider and cornstarch.

Add cider mixture to preserve mixture and heat until bubbling (about three minutes). Remove from heat and allow cooling before basting on ham.

(They also suggest adding 1/2 cup dried cranberries or zest of 1 orange to the preserve mixture.)

I wasn't sure what they meant by pomengrante cider, but I saw a pomegrante juice on sale at Sprouts. So I said what the heck, and it seemed to work out very well. I didn't add anything - I can only introduce so many new things to my family at a time ;-)
