Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

"Give me your supervisor."

*grrr*

A couple weeks ago, we had a repeat of too much rain in a short amount of time. Which caused the roof to leak where they "fixed it" before replacing the tiles.

So I put in a work request the day the leak started again. The roof guy finally showed up today. Took a look at the first leak by the windows.

"Oh, I'll have to go on the roof to see what I can see."

Showed him leak number two. Makes a mental note, and lifts the ceiling tile.

"I don't think this is from the roof. The HVAC cooling lines run along here. You'll have to make a new work request with the HVAC department."

After a long trip to the roof, he tries to tell me that leak number one was caused by the equipment from the window washers when they cleaned the windows.

Okay, I'm not born yesterday. And I worked with contractors when I worked in the hardware store. "But you'll fix it, right?"

"Yeah, but I can't do anything about leak number two. Get HVAC to fix the condensation."

*sigh* But I do my part and put in the work request.

After lunch today, I saw the HVAC guy. He was finally fixing the door to the cold room because it had gotten so bad I was having trouble opening the door. Then leaning into it with all my weight to close it properly. I know I asked for a work request on that in July. The HVAC guy commented that he got word of a work request from my lab.

"Yeah, the roof guy is trying to tell me it's condensation. But I know it's been humid since July, and that leak didn't show up until it rained a lot."

The HVAC guy takes a look around. "It's been just as humid, and these pipes are dry."

Figures.

So now I have to call the roof guys and say they need to stop passing the buck around and fix the damned roof.

"Would you like to talk to the supervisor?"

"Uhh, yeah since you more than likely can't help me."

"He'll have to get in touch with you. I got your name and number."

Needless to say, I'm not waiting on baited breath to hear from this guy. Guess this is what the University gets for paying less than private sector jobs.
