Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

Post Office Nazi

So in my desperate attempt to spend out the last of the $52, I asked the business office if I could buy stamps.

"Sure, just use the P-Card. Let me know when you need it."

P-Card is short for Purchasing card. It has the name of the department and the University of Arizona on it and a VISA logo on it. For the signature, the manager wrote "Picture ID Required".

No biggie, I'm going to drive to the post office. I should have my picture ID on me anyway.

I try and pay for stamps with said card.

"We cannot accept this card. VISA rules dictate a signature on the back."

Me trying to sound rational "But there's no name on the card except a department. So if my department manager had signed it with the words Microbiology and Immunology you'd accept it?"

"Yes, I cannot accept this card as is."

I take it back to the manager and told her my story. She said he was just being a prick by not letting me sign it.

I certainly won't be taking any more of my business to that post office. Plus, they lost out on a sale of about $25 in stamps.

Then in the ten minutes it took for that adventure, someone took my good parking spot (the kind you get if you're here early enough). That just pissed me off even more. Bad enough I came back empty handed, but then get stuck in the sweltering sun all day to boot.
