Call me terrible

I might be a terrible person for saying this. But I said a small prayer that these people were already dead before the fire started.

Background info: Driving up to Phoenix I had heard that there was a terrible accident on the Raintree offramp from the northbound 101 Freeway, and that a vehicle was on fire. A subsquent report said that four people in the car on fire were dead. Watching the evening news showed the asshole that started the accident and fire. He walked away, but approximately three minutes after he sped on the offramp, ran into the van, the van caught fire.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Four people killed Friday afternoon in a fiery crash along the Loop 101 in north Scottsdale have been identified as a Chandler couple and their two children.

The family was on their way to a special service at Desert Life Church in Scottsdale.

The impact apparently caused the gas tank to erupt into flames and authorities said the victims may have been burned alive.

Sgt. Ray Black said Kandas apparently took the Loop 101 offramp at Raintree Drive at 65-70 mph and did not slow before hitting the Walls' van from behind.

Kandas was not injured, and Black said he did not show signs of alcohol impairment at the scene.

I can't image the terror going through the parents if they had to deal with being trapped, then watching the flames surround them. I would hope the crash did them in before the car caught fire. We may never know, based on reports that the car was so torched, they couldn't identify it until they recovered the VIN. If there is a God, he would have spared them the suffering of being burned alive with your children.

So I'm a bad person. I'd like to see the asshole that caused it get slammed with vehicular manslaugher - doesn't matter if he was drunk or not. He didn't pay attention, caused a terrible accident, and as a result killed four people.
