Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

Try thinking before you speak

There's been a couple things that I've heard on NPR today that have me grinding my teeth in frustration.

The first was the husband of a woman who died on the 97th floor of Tower 1. He wanted Moussaoui to be executed:

"He's a murderer."

While he was found partially responsible for the events of 9/11, he actually did not kill anyone. Doesn't mean that he wouldn't if he had the means....but he didn't actually kill anyone (that we know of).

Another was about a MinuteMan support rally. People at the rally chanted:

"Remember 9/11 - Close the borders!"

Didn't the men that hijacked the planes come in via other methods (like student visas)? I've heard from Border Patrol agents that they do intercept men from the middle east on the Mexico-Arizona border, but they have not had a role in 9/11. I listened to an audiobook from Tom Clancy "Teeth of the Dragon", in which the men that executed a terrorist attack in multiple cities got into this country from Mexico. But get the facts straight - 9/11 men did not come across the border; they arrived on a plane (ironic isn't it?).

Finally (this is a real doozy). I was reading an article of a Mexican teenager trying to make it across the desert. With only two gallons of water... She was given a pamphlet of how to survive in the desert:

If you're lost and in trouble, light a fire to signal help

They're currently fighting a wildfire set by one of these lost wetbacks. And I still remember the Chedaski fire was set by a lost hiker and was fanned out of control by the rescue chopper.
