Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

cat collars

I guess I have the motto "if you love your cat enough, you'll put a collar and tag on him/her". Granted a coyote, hawk, or eagle doesn't give a damn if you have a collar on your cat when it decides to make a dinner of your fluffy friend.

But I had a cat that had spent a lot of time outside. I let him go out, because he always came back. Then one afternoon, I got a call from a neighbor. "Don't get me wrong, he's a great cat. But he's ruining my window trying to socialize with my cat." That incident right there justified collaring and tagging my fur beasts. And that cat became an indoor cat.

When I got Adira as a little ball of fluff, I thought it was the time to get her used to being collared. She didn't like being collared, and shortly after putting it on her, I'd find it discarded on the floor. Same story with a harness.

So I gave up on collaring my crittters, and to be fair to Magnum, he went "naked". He didn't care if it was a collar or harness, he'd wear whatever I put him in.

To be a glutten for punishment, I picked up new scratch resistant collars for both critters. I think the selling point was that there was the standard size, and a "plus size" to fit Magnum's size. I picked a turquoise collar for Magnum, and a dark blue for Adira. Turquoise was the color the other cat wore (long story about that). For Adira, being a calico, with some blended color and solid colors, I wasn't sure what would be the best color on her. So I went with my favorite color.

Magnum again didn't care about being collared. Adira was like "what the heck are you doing to me?" when I put it on her. But she hasn't made any serious efforts to take it off either. She's over at the neighbor's patio, so as far I know now, that's where it'll end up.

I'll take pictures of my pretty kitties in their collars when my camera gets returned to me. And after I get them name tags.
