Life of a former witch

I've outgrown my wicked witch of the west ways. Reflections of life afterwards, living in the desert with two cats, friends, family, and my hot and cold love life.

low energy, great diet

Another week has flown by. Spent the weekend in San Diego, and got a side of gluten with my burger.

I don't blame the place. It more than likely happened with our orders. I was ordering a burger in a lettuce wrap, the other three people I was with ordered burgers with buns. I'm sure they had to touch my burger to get it in the lettuce, and if it was done after the other burgers were plated, gluten could get on my burger.

But it was a damn good burger. That was Saturday.

By Sunday, I was tired. Dead ass tired. Since all I had to do was prepare the desert to our Thanksgiving desert, I felt it was best to get out of the way of the small kitchen. But I didn't figure it out.

Monday on the drive back home, I had to pull over and hand over the keys to boyfriend. I was so tired (still) that I was afraid I would fall asleep. I only slept about a half hour, but it would have been scary to do that driving on the 8. By that afternoon, my stomach was really hurting. That was my first "hrm, is this gluten-related?"

Tuesday and Wednesday I was very gassy (thanks for sharing). That's my second clue that this is gluten-related. The fatigue is a bit better, but still I'm not 100%.

Today is my final clue when I can't stay out of the bathroom. And thankfully we have good old fashioned toilets that won't ever get clogged (really thanks for sharing).

But the weirdest thing is that when I get glutened like this, I don't want to eat. Sunday I forced myself to eat the early Thanksgiving dinner, but small portions of everything. Monday, I had one meal at 4:30 in the afternoon. It was nice, but it's not enough for your daily caloric intake. Tuesday and Wednesday was breakfast only. I wasn't hungry for lunch, except for a small cookie or something, and I would tell everyone I had dinner on my way home (a little white lie). Today I still missed lunch, but had a great dinner and had some popcorn while watching the game on TV.

I know that when you're sick, starving yourself is not a smart idea. But maybe it's more in my head the concept of forcing more food in inflamed intestines makes food more appealing.

But I think for now I've turned the corner. So hopefully tomorrow I'll be more back to normal.
